Nancy:
I'm the person that wrote the article on ocular migraines that you reference in your post. I based the article on research I'd done but it's clear, based on your post and a couple of other comments, that what I read (and subsequently wrote) about ocular migraines contains several inaccuracies.
Because of that, and because I don't want to provide misinformation on my blog, I'm totally reworking the entire article. As a migraine sufferer myself I wrote the blog to hopefully help others and the last thing I want to do is give out incorrect information.
I appreciate you taking the time to read through the article and provide feedback. Although it was a bit sobering to read some of your commentary about the article, in the end what's important is that the article not provide misleading or inaccurate information.
Thank You,
Scarlett
Hi Scarlett,
Thank you so much for reading. The Migraine specialists we work with use (for the most part) the International Headache Society's International Headache Classification of Headache Disorders second edition (ICHD-2) for their diagnosis. And we are trying hard to streamline diagnosis with everyone so we are all on the same page. It is not always easy to do and getting accurate information can be difficult. Journal articles, lots of reading and attending headache scientific conferences are all part of learning about Migraine disease and sharing it with everyone.
If I may, while I was on your site, I took a look around at some of your other information on Migraine and headache. You might want to look into redoing them too.
Again, thanks for reading. We are all in this together - getting accurate, helpful information to people who need it.

My Mother and my paternal grandmother suffered from migraines. Out of 4 children, my brother and myself have inherited this. I have migraines without aura, but my brother was diagnosed with ocular migraines. The diagnosis was made when he had brief but frightening vision loss. I believe he also had nausea, but initially did not have headache with this. What are the statistics of inheriting migraines? Is it common for family members to have different kinds?
