Sharon Stone, born on March 10, 1958, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, comes from a large family with working class roots. Ms. Stone was the second born out of four children. Her mother was a homemaker; her father worked in a local factory. Ms. Stone was a bookworm and a local beauty pageant queen. At 15, she won a scholarship to Edinboro University in Pennsylvania where she studied creative writing and fine arts. After graduation, she moved to New York City and began a modeling career. This soon lead to television commercials, and she soon expanded her horizons to acting.
Ms. Stone made her first break into movies in 1980, when she had a small, non-speaking role in the film "Stardust Memories" by Woody Allen. She survived making many "B" movies during the '80's, married and divorced Michael Greenburg then made her big break in the film "Total Recall" with Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1990. Ms. Stone is well known for her role as the sociopath novelist, Catherine Tramell in the movie "Basic Instinct" with Michael Douglas (whose aunt, Ida Sahr, lives next door to my parents, by the way!).
