We are back from our trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and it was wonderful! The drive down was extremely long, but the kids were very well behaved. Thank goodness for a borrowed portable DVD player. Without that, I think our son would have gone crazy! Between the Ipods and the DVD player, it was a peaceful ride....
The beach house was amazing. The backyard boasted a grey fox, loads of interesting landscape and bird watching galore. While the house wasn't on the beach, we could walk to it and swim or "play" in the water every day. The waves were incredible, and a pod of dolphins swam by. I don't think I have ever seen my children smile so long as they did when they were in the ocean.
One of the best parts of our vacation was that no one had a Migraine attack. No need for pills, potions or hot packs. We managed to stay well hydrated during the day, eat at regular intervals and get enough rest. Quite a thing to accomplish in our household!!
Now that the "party" is over, the laundry is slowly getting done and clothes packed away. Of course, there is still sand everywhere and the seashells waiting for their new homes. It truly was a remarkable vacation, one we will all remember for a long time.
