If society was more aware of how their fragrances impact other people, a few would think about how much they put on in the morning.  Most of my family and friends are so sweet about not wearing any.  For our wedding, we put a note in with the invitation requesting no perfume or cologne. One good wiff can put me in bed for a few days.  I am so glad to see this change occurring.

I wish it could be most work places as well and airplanes. I had to travel to Japan on an eleven hr flight and one women doused herself in cheap perfume which saturated the whole plane for the entire trip. I could barely breathe and my migraine began and never ended for 3 days.

Oh yuck, there should be a law about that one. Really, as if it isn't bad enough to breathe in all that stale air for so long.

I'm glad to see more attention is being given to this  type of migraine trigger.  I've often had to avoid certain people due to their habit of bathing themselves in their favorite perfume.  Many special events I've attended have been ruined by a migraine triggered by odors, usually perfumes.  Any place that is made fragrance free would be wonderful to me.  PS - I can't even step foot into a Yankee Candle ShopBig Smile

I work in a hospital and feel that they should be fragrance-free, but it has not happened yet.  I hope this project builds and awareness grows. Fragrance is a big trigger for me. Thanks

You would think hospitals would be one of the first places that would take notice of this problem.

I think it's a wonderful idea.  As a chronic migraine sufferer myself, perfume can put me in bed for days. I would love to see hospitals fragrance free. Nothing like having to go to the hospital with a migraine to get IV for dehydration and meds for the pain, then get sicker from unnecessary smells.

    I COMPLETELY agree Woot!

I wish we (as a society) could be totally "perfume" free. I've had timesI'ive gone to the ER with a migraine only to have it get worse because of the nurses cheap perfume she decided to bathe in. I also have a trigger from ppl's B.O.(body odors). I cant win for losing. Of course mens cologne .... car exhaust-smoking-bad breath. Sometimes I get heartburn from those smells as well.

I really do HATE being so sensitive..... it makes a lessoning in my quality of life...Unsure

Maybe someday we'll be fragrance-free like we are heading to be smoke-free.

Wow, I think that this is a wonderful idea!  I only wish that we could have fragrance-free airplanes!

In college, I had a professor who was a migraineur and instituted a no fragrance use policy in her class.  She simply stated that fragrances made her sick and she would appreciate it if no one would wear such in her class and if they did, she reserved the right to ask them to leave.  And I witnessed her do so!

Several of my doctors have a fragrance free office.  Unfortunatly, my pain management center doesn't.  I guess the theory there is, you're getting your pain meds, so you won't mind.

I wish them well in the pursuits..I hope more follow suit.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Over the years I have a list of migraine triggers from certain perfumes to paint (before the companies changed the formulae) and would welcome public places barring scents.

However, this would only work where the general public are not allowed, ie schools, colleges, universities, places of work. This wouldn't work in shopping centres and the like...unfortunately!

I am very happy to hear about this push for a Fragrance Free Campus.  Both my son who is in 7th grade and myself deal with migraines on a daily baisis due to odors of fragrance.  I have had to leave 3 good job due to constant migranines. We have not found a preventive medication yet or a fragrance free employer.  My son deals with daily migraines at school and now has a shorten day to try to help him deal with the pain.  He still has 5 years left of jr & high school, I thilled to hear there my be a college where he can study where he won't get sick.  He says it's hard to keep he's A average with magraines.  He is starting to have some relief on his meds only time will tell.
