Wishing you luck with the Zonegran this time around! I hope it works wonders for you! I quite enjoyed the amitriptyline side effect when I first started taking it. I felt I could sleep better through the night.

Now that I'm used to the dose, that nice little side effect is not as frequent. Oh well, hey, it's till cutting down the migraines so yay for that!

Good luck girl! I hope this one helps you tons and tons!!! Big Grin

    Nancy,

So sorry to hear about you not feeling better. I'm still waiting for the "miracle" drug. However, I can say, I'm down to 3-4 a week since I'm on Midrin. It "usually" helps stop the migraine. But, not always. It seems I can tell, when it's going to be "that" kind of migraine. The kind that no matter what I take, it doesn't go away. My last one was Tuesday. Before that it was Fri, Sat, & Sun. with little relief.

Today is a good day, so far! Hate to "jinks" myself, or whatever you call it.  The Zonegran didn't work for me. I hope it works for you. I have a sensitive stomach to many meds. I think that was one of them.

I found out yesterday, it will take 2 and 1/2 years to get a hearing for my disability. Crazy! Well, guess I can just hang in there. Well, I got denied for Medicaid also. So.......I'm getting married in June. NO big deal. It's my 3rd. But, we've been together 4 years. He has decent insurance, so I'll have coverage at least. He's been really good to me with these migraines. Though, he's not perfect, he is close enough for me. He's only asked me a dozen times. I guess, after I've done it 2x, it's like no big deal. But, it's the right thing to do, I know now. Not just because of insurance, but that will be a plus!

    Sorry so long.

Hope you feel better soon!  Keep me posted.

    Denise

It seems to be a wait and see kind of thing. You know how that goes.

    Dear Nancy:

I hope the Zonegran is going to help you.  It is so frustrating when you can't get the pain level down to a zero.  Frustrating, and sometimes depressing.  Trying to work through it also creates its own difficulties---when I do this, I feel somewhat good for being able to accomplish something, but also sometimes impatient and a bit resentful that "doing" never stops, and the pain won't let up to allow "doing things" to be a joy.

I will pray this is the key to getting you back on track.  The Depakote/Indocin SR combo is helping me.  I had my best monthly "cycle" last month and only needed triptans for seven days, which for me is unheard of!

Hang in there, and please keep us posted.

    Hugs, Clemmie

    Hi there,

I hope you have a good experience with Zonegran! It helped my headache intensity (but not necessarily the frequency) for the 2 years or so I took it. Unfortunately, the side effects were out of control for me and I had to get off of it. Luckily (and frustratingly), drugs affect each person in a totally different way from the next, so I'm thinking it'll work out well for you even though it wasn't good for me.

Keep us posted on your progress!

    Nancy:

Hope you do well on this preventive medication.  I am trying not to get discouraged  as started on Neurontine yesterday with 300 mg in the evening and building up to 900 mg per day (300 mg - 3 times daily).  Since am working full-time, take the Advil and/or Imitrix medication during the day if required to finish the work day, and in the evening am trying to lie down and go for a sleep before it gets out of of control, and then take the Advil and/or Imitrix if there is no relief.  It seems I have been having more bad days then good days these days.  The ringing of the ears seems to be worse in the last few months and this is a sympton I never had before and find extremely annoying.

    Take care.

    Hi Cari,

Thanks for checking up on me. So far ok. I'll keep you posted.

Are you taking Advil and/orImitrex 2-3 days a week? If so, you could unwillingly be creating another problem called Medication Overuse Headache, and no Migraine preventive medication will work if you have MOH.

Here is some information for you. Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires.

    Nancy:

No, I'm  not using it more than 2-3 times a week this is why I'm lying down in the evening hoping to fall asleep when I have migraine - putting up with the pain unless it is severe.  When I go back to see my doctor  in May, I will ask for other medication to relieve pain other than Advil.  Thanks.

That's a relief. I've had MOH and it is no fun to stop. I was taking oxycontin for about one and half years, ( I think?) and that was a bit rough stopping. It took about 12 days of feeling miserable.

I am currently using Axert to abort a Migraine. This works most of the time. I have fioricet with codeine along with reglan as rescue medications if I get in trouble.......

Good luck in May. It will be here before you know it.
