Hi Nancy,
I have had experience with EEG and thermal biofeedback. I found it made me aware of muscle tension like yourself. I still use the thermal biofeedback techniques when I have an increased headache or migraine. I've never had it abort a migraine or cease my daily headache. However, it has decreased the intensity of the pain somewhat. So, thermal biofeedback is most definitely in my toolbox.

My son tried neurofeedback for a long time....many more sessions than we were originally told it would take to see results, and we even rented a laptop unit where we could do it at home as well...unfortunately, he has not had relief and we have spent almost $2000.00 on these treatments. He still gets a migraine every 2 or 3 days and we just can't figure out any triggers, etc. I wish I had more helpful news about it, but neurofeedback didn't help him and it was very costly to find that out.
We have a Migraine diary I wonder if you may find helpful to identify and manage your son's Migraine triggers, you can find that information HERE.
Let me know if I can be of more help.
Hi Nancy:
It is interesting and encouraging to see that so many with migraines have benefited from Neurofeedback. I participated in a clinical study on Neurofeedback for migraines years ago at the medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill. It did not help my headaches, and I remember at the end of the study, the researcher wondering if hormonal migraines might be less responsive to such interventions. I don't know if this has been borne out by research or not. Believing in "leave no stone unturned," I hope that those who have not tried it (and are in disabling pain) at least try it since so many are helped.
I hope you are doing well.
