As I may have mentioned in my SharePosts, I have had a hard time with increased Migraine pain in addition to my chronic head and neck pain recently. At my last doctor's visit, we increased my dose of Zonegran - and added another triptan - Like what you're reading? Hi, I haven't posted here and thought I would find others who deal with the same issues as I do.  I have terrible migraines 2-3 a week, I also have neck pain because of having bone spurs in my neck. I don't know if the bone spurs have anything to do with my migraines or not.   I'm getting ready to go to the beach and being out in the sun or just being overheated in general is a bummer and a sure thing for a migraine.   I've suffered with migraines for many many years now, and I've just got use to it and figure I will always have to deal with them  Frown .   I take midrin, execdrine migraine when I have a migraine.  I've tried imitrex, topamax, replax, maxalt, blood presure med..... and none have worked so far.  Have you ever tried botox?  my insurance won't pay for it, the neurologist thinks it's worth a try he says it's worked for alot of his patients, but I don't have the money to pay for it.

Hope you have a great Summer, and God Bless,

    Cindy

    Hi Nancy:

I'm glad you gave the Relpax another try and that it worked without side effects.  On the other hand, I'm sorry you needed ot take it, and then again the next day.  Sigh.

I remember a time when there were no triptans.  I hope you feel better soon and get out of the "cycle."

That is so true, it is hard to imagine where we were without triptans.....

I just wish they would come up with a real Migraine preventive drug, made specifically for Migraine disease. Not a hand me down from other conditions....

    Hello Nancy,

I am glad the Replax worked for you the second time.  Sorry you are having a hard time with the migrainesFrown  I was ready to give up on Zomig after many years of it working .  Thia past year it failed me for awhile.  I tried to stay off it for a month, which was a killer, and now it works for me again.  It could be that I am on Topamax also. I know how frustrating it can get after trying so many different medications. I hope you have a migraine free or migraine a little less summer!

    Take Care

I'm glad to hear your triptan is working again. Let's just go with it and enjoy fewer Migraines!!

I too tried relapax more than once.  I had the same bad side effects the first time but my doctor encouraged me to try it again. I was hesitant to do so, but I didn't want to not do what my doctor wanted, so I took it again. The second time was worse.  I actually ended up having a heart attack because of the relapax.   Now I am not allowed to take any triptans at all.

I am not saying don't do what your doctor says, but do so with a questioning attitude.  If you are really uncomfortable with something be sure to say so.  If I had spoken up, I wouldn't have had the heart attack at the age of 34.

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry to hear about your heart attack. Thank you for sharing your story. You are absolutely right about trying medications again, but paying careful attention to your body.

I hope you have fully recovered and are feeling ok.

My specialisted wanted me to try Replax as well and I took it several times as required, and most times had problems with hot flashes and heart palpitations.   Now I am back on the Imitrex and although it does not abort the migraine as well or as fast, I feel better taking something I can tolerate better.  Good luck.
