Migraine and Headache Clinical Trials Update 11/30/09

Many of us have heard about clinical trials, but do we really know what they are? Clinical trials are biomedical or health-related research studies in humans that follow a pre-determined protocol.

There are two types of Migraine clinical studies we update on a monthly basis:

  • interventional studies in which research participants are assigned by investigators to a treatment or other intervention such as Botox and the results are calculated.
  • Observational - in which research participants are watched and results are measured by the investigators.

Participating in a clinical trial is one way to help add to the body of medical knowledge and evidence and to try medications and treatments not yet available.
