I retired early from college teaching because I couldn't cope with the frequency and severity of migraines I was having. Retiring did not diminish the migraines (in fact they continue to become more frequent), but it did reduce my stress because now I don't have to teach and grade papers while dealing with migraines. However now I have no health insurance and live on a very meager income. I have a good-sized PFO and had been approved for the ESCAPE trial (PFO Closure) but now that has been cancelled. When I'm not having a migraine I'm in great health, but I can't commit to anything, not even to volunteer work or meeting a friend for lunch, so my life is really screwed. Any exercise seems to trigger migraines, so I don't know what to do but write, which I continue doing when I'm able.
