A week. Typically an insignificant period of time, I suppose - unless you live with migraine. A week can be heaven or hell, depending on how your brain decides to act. I am thrilled to say that this past week has been heaven, at least where migraine is concerned. My last migraine was on December 8th, and it successfully aborted within only two or three hours. I suffered no postdrome symptoms - not even fatigue - and was able to continue with life that evening.
Since then, I have been migraine-free for the past 8 days. This has been especially exciting considering the conditions of this past week. First of all, the weather here in my desert has been a bit wild, swinging up and down up to 45 degrees, with a number of storm systems coming through the region. Secondly, my sleep schedule was disturbed for three days while I worked on grading my students' final exams before my university's very quick deadline. In order to grade everything for all three classes, I had to stay up very, very late. Normally, these two conditions would mean major migraines.
And yet, this week, perhaps thanks to utilizing some of the new tools in my "toolbox" - like some of the aromatherapy items recommended to me here - or perhaps due to the Topamax regime beginning to have some effect, I have had a week without migraine pain.
And it was glorious. :-)

Hello fellow migrainer......NOT!!!
Congratulations on living for a week PLUS with a migraine! I also have them almost every day. I take imitrex and amerge when I get them. Nothing I have tried has worked to prevent them, except Topamax....However, I just want to caution you....
and I am a very rare exception, but it did happen to me. After taking it for about 10 days, I developed quick-onset glaucoma........my vision became very blurry and my eyes were watering a whole bunch. Dr. sent me to emergency, as it is very serious. I immediately stopped taking Topamax, and the glaucoma was gone within a couple of days. My Dr. said it could have led to blindness. I'm not meaning to scare you at all, but just make you aware, in case you should develop the blurriness and watering of your eyes. Not all doctors would even mention this as a side effect, as it is so rare.
Good Luck! I wish you much success with getting rid of migraines forever!
