Clearly, that ER doctor is not the brightest bulb in that department
. I'm not making light of your experience, you must have been terrified. I wouldn't let an incompentant doctor prevent you from getting good health care.
Unfortunately, Migraine disease can occur at any age. Are you having pain every day? Do you get any breaks at all? If your head pain goes on longer than 72 hours without four-hour, pain-free break while awake, this could be a condition called Status Migrainous and needs medical attention. Status Migrainous - The Basics. This puts us at an increased risk for stroke. The cycle can be broken with IV infusion, which I have had done on numerous occasions. IV Treatment of Refractory Migraines Feel free to print out this material and take it to your doctor.
Something to be careful of is Medication Overuse Headache, MOH. This happens when we take certain prescription and/or OTC medications more than 2 to 3 days a week. The only way to stop MOH, is to stop taking the offending medication cold turkey. Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires.
