Hi to all,
I lived with migraines for years, many years. Last year (2006), I saw six medical doctors, 3 surgeons, three physical therapists and finally, one pain management doctor was added, the drs. thinking it was all in my head I guess. None of these folks were able to take care of my migraine ....until a trip to the ER!!!
Last Dec. 31st, I ended up having a "whopper" of a headache (you know the kind I mean) and I went to the ER in hopes of getting a shot to get me through this again.
What I got instead, was a shock! I ended up having a CT scan run on me and I was told I have a Pineal Gland Cyst. Now mind you, I did get the shot, but I was sent home with instructions to see yet another doc. After doing some research on my own, ..I found this out. This gland controls sleep... which I had not been able to get in years. Which I had begged these other doctors to try to help me get, without the aid of meds.
Instead of seeing yet another doctor, I called one I had already seen and asked if he could please just send a request to the lab for an MRI, as that is what I was instructed to get from the next dr., thankfully he did. After the MRI, I was told I have a second cyst, in the left cerebella hemisphere. Apparently there is nothing you can do about these cysts, and the medical professionals blew me off and said not to worry about them.
But hey.... I'm having migraines doc!!!! remember?
Out of frustration and through a friend, I spoke with a holistic health practitioner about this. She immediately got me on vitamins, minerals, omega 3s and herbs. Long story short... I feel great and have not had a headache or migraine since January 6th!
Amazingly, with a simple handful of walnuts and 250 mg of magnesium each night, I'm sleeping like a baby. The supplements I now take every day, have not only kept those migraines at bay; but they have given me stamina, better eyesight (which was very weird), better skin and hair, and a huge improvement on my outlook towards life. Amazing how not having headaches and migraines can do that huh!
Now mind you, I did have to give up certain foods (triggers) but this wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
My letter is just to let you know, there is life after migraines... and it's great. Look at the holistic health side for answers, I hope this helps at least one of you... if not all. ;) Trish
