i haved migraines since my late teens. there have been times where i have had to leave work or whateve because it has been so bad. there are still several people who just dont understand the pain, tension, nausea and everything else that goes with a migraine. i tell people that they dont know what pain is until they have had a migraine.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
You've found the right spot for understanding and support. We're so glad you did. Migraine is thought to be a genetic neurologic disease. People cannot "see" a Migraine attack, it is an invisiable illness, which makes it worse for the Migraineur. Most of the time we don't look sick but could be having a Migraine up around a seven and feel horrible. I've often said that during a Migraine attack we should put a big bandage across our forehead and then people could actually "see" our pain. They have plenty of empathy for a broken leg, and I don't mean to diminish the pain of a broken bone here.
I try to remember it is their problem when they don't understand, not mine. It takes a long time to get to this place, and I practice every day. But I'm the only one who needs to "get it." We have a wonderful letter Migraine and Headache Education for Those Who "Don't Get It". Feel free to print it out and share it with whomever you'd like to.
Thank you for creating a SharePost. SharePosts are a form of blogging, and there are many things you can do with them. You can share an experience, suggest something that's helped you, use SharePosts as a Migraine and headache journal, and many other things.
We also have a discussion forum that you may want to check out. Especially if you have questions or are looking for information, you may find the interaction on the forum to be quite helpful. To get to the forum, just look for the orange box marked "Manage" and click on the Migraine Forums link. Because our forums are maintained by a third party, you'll need to register for the forum. You can use the same information you used to create your community log-in if you like. If you want to go directly to the forum, you can click HERE.
