Migraine is a genetic neurological disease that is currently thought to be caused by overactive neurons in our brains and genetics. Trigger identification and management is an important part of Migraine management and preventing Migraines. You may have some triggers that you can avoid, thus preventing Migraines brought on by those triggers. Do you know what any of your triggers are? When working to identify triggers one of the best tools is a good Migraine diary. You can read more about this and download a free diary workbook in our article Your Migraine and Headache Diary.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
How about 40 years +? Multiply your number by 4 and you will have my fun. Mine became daily in the last 2 years with so many blockers and pain killers that I just had surgery. I am still recovering, but it has slowed them to 1 every other week. Hopefully when all the swelling is down I can go off all the meds and get my life back. Good luck.
Talk about a Dr. that is one of the most non caring, he said that he loses a few of his patients every year to suside because they can't stand the pain .
I can't understand why he wuold tell me that. But I have considered this many times when they get so bad that I can't even get out of bed. These things are putting my family and me thru h**l, lost my job 8 years ago due to too much time missing work, but I keeping going somehow. Who knows?
I have had migraines for almost fifteen years now but in the last two they are almost a weekly event if i make it to day 7 or 8 i am so happy. I just lost my job one month ago.(suprised they kept me for the last two years with havin to call in all the time and or having a migraine hang over when i do go back to work. these migraines are runing my life my husband has left a few times and i know that it is hard on my kids when i never feel good. Just keep hoping that something will be effective some day!!!
Hello 12+,
I certainly understand your frustration after so many years of suffering. I know a lot of migraineurs, but only one whose childhood migraines "just went away on their own" with no medical intervention. However I can attest to having successfully gotten my own migraines under control with the help of daily medications and supplements as well as trigger avoidance. So yes, it is possible.
I have a strong family history of migraine and have suffered with them myself since childhood. The only time I did not experience migraine headaches was one blissful pain free year when I was pregnant and breast feeding. Otherwise, through my adulthood they just gradually got worse and worse until my mid-forties when the episodic attacks became "tranformed migraine" or chronic daily headaches with severe migraine attacks 12-16 days a month.
The road to getting them under control was a long one, but the main turning points for me were deciding to educate myself about this disease as fully as possible, recognizing that I had to take full responsibility for my health and each treatment I tried, listening to my body's responses very carefully, and finding a migraine specialist who was willing to partner with me in my care.
I generally still get three migraines a month, each lasting one or two days, but the chronic daily pain is gone completely, the pain I do get is far less severe and generally I can take a triptan and continue on with my day unimpeded. I believe everyone's migraine disease is unique to them, but in my case the breakthrough was recognizing and correcting a hormone imbalance.
I hope this is helpful. Good luck to you.
