My daughter, Karley and I went to a new Dr. (neurologist) this past Wednesday.  He's Dr. Bruce Dodt, and he's located in Kankakee, IL. I saw Dr. Dodt in 2004, when he was called in to help me with my migraine pain...while I was hospitalized for a hip-replacement.  I was impressed with him then, as he had excellent advice for me and was very knowledgeable concerning migraines. (He, also, is a migraineur...so he has a great deal of compassion Heart )  However, the distance between he and me....was a bit daunting, (then) but, now...it is a minor concern, as my daughter has developed daily migraine headachesCry with aura, puking, light/smell/sound sensitivity...

This first visit has left me very encouraged.  Dr. Dodt spent quite a good amount of time with my daughter and I, asking many questions and truly listening to our answers.  He made extensive notes while interviewing us...and during our examinations.  I had brought a recent MRI of mine...and he left us for about 10 minutes to view the MRI, while we were there. After listening to our "drug history", he asked if there were any particular meds that we wanted to try.  (i was pretty impressed by this...)  I shared with him my personal thoughts but told him that we'll do whatever he thinks best.  He said that he thought my suggestion was good...and we'd go with that.  We discussed analgesics...and he listened to our imput on that as well.  (this caused HOPE to flood my spirit...!!!!!)

Dr. Dodt was very frank with us...."there's no 'cure' for migraines"...etc.  He also stated that we'd work together until we found a med combination that worked for us.  He commented that "the human body isn't a 'machine' and what works for some may not work for others...and drugs react differently for each individual" ......

Anyway, both my daughter and I were encouraged...and really liked Dr. Dodt.  (he even had some really humorous migraine/vegas nerve  anecdotes for us.

So, I am encouragedKiss ...and hopeful, probably the most I've been in quite a while, concerning the migraine-issue.....
