    Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

For purposes of treatment, learning about your Migraines, being able to get care if you're away from home, etc., you need a full diagnosis of what type of Migraine you have. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.

If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

I have a lot of tension headaches too. Acupuncture helps them immensely! I highly recommend acupuncture! It's totally worth the money!

I went tried acupunture for a year along with chiropracture.  Neither helped the migraines or tension headaches for me.  Two years later i went to a different acupuncturist for sciatia nerve pain and he helped a bit for that and then I had a recurring pain in base of the neck (the trapez muscle) that he worked on and instantly released with a treatment (something the previous doctor couldn't do over a year of appointments).  Unfortunately this doctor moved across the country so I couldn't try him out for migraines.  My advise would be to try it for a couple of visits you should know after one or two in my opinion.  I wasted a lot of money with my first doctor just thinking it would take time because he came highly reccomended by a friend who had seen him for years for other health reasons.  The second doctor was also recommended to me by a friend and I found his treatments to be much more helpful and noticeable.  I find massage to be the most rewarding of the treatments to have especially when you are paying out of pocket.

I too when like to know more about muscle relaxants.  It seems like doctors are hesistant to give any additional drugs with the topamax?  Not sure.  But I couldn't get them to give me anything to help with the leg and back cramps I had with the sciatia pain or the tension neck pain.  Hope you get a break soon from the pain I've been getting a few days off this fall but the summer was wicked for me.
