I get home and my boys want to do push ups. What does daddy do? He has to show them the way he did them in the academy eight years ago-multiple times so they can get it right.
The next day my O.N. was in agony. I tried to live with it and finally made an appointment. One problem-the doctor had fallen off a ladder and was injured and his appointments were backed up. Three weeks later, yesterday, I get to see him and I am dying for an injection maybe two. He starts to feel along my nerve, muscle from my head to my shoulder. As we talk he tell me the main factors were my reactions to the compazine (He won't even prescribe it himself.) and the pushups. The motorcycle had nothing to do with it mainly.
Doc. was going to give me two shots, but as he feels along the pathway it is so tender that I begin to freak out a little at the thought of a needle in my neck or head. I told the doctor that I had come in ready, nay desperate for it, but that I was starting to freak out. He decides for a trigger injection right in the knot of nerves/muscle in my shoulder above the shoulder blade and a shot of toradol for inflamation, as he know I have to go to work.
I go to work at a side job and am so-so ok. I meet my family for church and begin to feel miserable and in pain, so I take a vicodine with my wife's blessing. I leave church, go to work, and eat a sandwich. The vicodine must have finally kicked in because I was feeling no pain. I had such a rush of energy from not having to focus through the pain, that I couldn't shut up. For the first time in over a month, I didn't hurt. My sergeant even told me "Hey, the coffee is fresh, not that you need any." Fortunately the guys I work with (assigned to our booking dept. on midnights) and I all share similar interests, motorcycles, computers, and electronic gadgets-cell phones, pdas, media players, etc.
Today the shoulder is sore, the nerve is active-just sore now, not that energy draining pain. The doctor wants me to come in in one week to see if everything is quieted down enough for me to get an injection or two in my neck/head
-if they are needed.
There it is, my first post. All through writing this I have been thinking of a friend that had a large tumer (bigger than his head) removed from his abdomen. They also had to remove various organs along with it. They thought it was a sarcoma, but it turned out to be a rare nerve tumor. They believe that they got it all, but it can return. He is in a lot of pain and his wounds got infected and had to be repacked. He is unable to tolerate stronger pain meds right now and is taking tylenol. I honestly marvel at his ability to endure. If you read this, and you pray, please pray for him.
