Scary Side Effects

I have several medical conditions. These conditions require me to be on medications. Most of these medications cause constipation and once I had to go to the hospital because the pain was incredibly excrutiating and I hadn't had a bowel movement in over a month. I had to talk one of my doctors into lowering the dose of one medication and another doctor into taking me off another in order to lessen the load, so to speak.

Here we are two...

Migraine Progress VS Insurance (Update)

Thank you Denise and Nancy for your thoughts.

I do keep a migraine journal and have for several years now. The past few Neuro visits (I give them a copy of my journal) have shown that my migraines have seemed to improve. The Zomig does in fact help my migraines clear up within a couple hours, although I do get some nasty nausea and a nasty sore throat. However, this summer has been a bad one. Maybe it's been all the rain? Humidity?...

Migraine progress leads to loss of insurance

It has been a year since leaving my previous migraine doctor. I happily report that I have made good progression with my migraines since then. It was a difficult road finding a replacement doctor, but the migraine doctor I have now is incredibly nice, understanding and full of knowledge on leading treatments. Since being his patient I have almost half the amount of migraines per month I did before.

I am now facing a dilemma. This new...

Slowly, but surely, I am finding releif

I have been in physical therapy since January and my migraines have improved. I still get them, but they do not come as often and not as intense. I have been given a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator) unit and that helps as well. I was actually given one of these many years ago, but I was young and stupid and didn't want to use it the way you were supposed to so I didn't reap any benefits from it. The great thing about this new...

Progress!!!

It has been quite a while since I posted. I was having troubles with my doctor and at a loss of what to do. I have done much since then and have made progress!

First, I saw my old neurologist who was not yet established in his new place of business. He was eager to help me, but since he didn't quite have his place ready he recommended another doctor. I thanked him profusely and set up another appointment.

A few months later I...

Botox troubles

The last few times I have received botox for my migraines I have felt pretty confident it hasn't done anything for them. Yes, it has helped my neck soreness and shoulder pain, but I am not going to the headache center for that. I actually see a pain management doctor for my shoulder and neck pain. I have kept a migraine journal of the past 6 months of Botox injections and you can see that there is no change in my migraine patterns. Somehow my...

I hate doctors!

My old doctor won't see me at his new office. It has me in tears because now I don't know what to do. I don't like my current doctor and I don't know where else to go. I am hurt that my old doctor just non chalantly dismissed me without a care. Of course I don't expect him to remember me, but I thought there would be a little more compassion then "Oh I am not seeing old pateints bye bye" click.
Pain in my scalp and severe tenderness

For the past few days I have had non-stop tenderness on my scalp. Out of curiosity I looked up the scalp muscles and believe the the tender area is my galea. The pain is on my right side and close to the top center of my head and more to the back than the front. It is so tender to the touch. I have had sharp pains there periodically before and thought nothing much of it. A few times I have had migraines generating pain from this area. I had been...

When is it time to move on?

I have been with my headache clinic since I was about 20 so we are going on five years now. In those five years my migraines are a little less frequent, which is good, but in the past year, since my favorite doctor left, I feel like nothing has been happening. I was with my previous doctor for about 3 years and he helped me get approval for Botox and was always willing to try new treatments. He left the practice last year and left me with...

Insurance Company Hassles

A lilttle background info: I am on disability from the state because of my migraines. Because I am considered disabled, I am allowed to be covered under my father's health insurance despite my age. Most children are no longer covered at 23 years old unless there are special circumstances, which I fall in. Since I turned 23 my father and I have been receiving notices informing us that I will be dropped from the policy. My father...
