Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

A Whiplash injury may trigger a Migraine attack, but doesn't cause Migraines. Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease, that has flare ups or the attacks. There can be many symptoms to a Migraine, headache is just one syptoms of an attack. Some Migraineurs

have Migraine attacks without getting the headache symptoms, this would be called Acephalgic or silent Migraine.

There are a few different theories about what start a Migraine attack once we have encountered a trigger. For some, eating chocolate, changes in the weather and dehyration can trigger a Migraine. For other people cervical spine issues, muscle issues or even changes in sleeping patterns may trigger an attack, not cause one. For more information continue reading our article: Migraine - What Is It?

Hi, I have been in two car accidents and got whiplash in both. I never attributed them to my migraines because I've had them for my whole life. I recently started seeing a special therapist called a rolfer. She has helped me so much with my pain. My migraines are less frequent and less severe. The nature of my headaches has changed also. Since working on my neck and cranium - I no longer have intense pain in my neck during a migraine. I really swear by this technique. I don't think that the whip lash was causing my migraines, but I do feel like it was aggrevating the situation. You can get more information about what rolfing is on this web site. Good luck

thanks nebula

am seeing a therapist on monday............ but after reading your repy think i'll see if i can try someone who does rolfing in my local area.  by the way thank you so much for supporting my opinion, we get so sick of well meaning doctors, family and friends, believing that its all "in our head"!

Hi Tracy,

I did want to let you know my journey with head pain began when I fell and hit my head on our concrete drive some eleven years ago. I did suffer a concussion and whiplash injury, which I believe is any time your head and neck hit something while moving into a solid structure  -  could be a windshield, sidewalk or any that doesn't have any give to it....so I do understand the nature of head neck pain. I've tried plenty of complementary therapies and feel they have a place in conjunction with traditional medicine.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance, ok?
