Migraines and pituitary abnormalities? I started out June '07 and have gone weekly with migraine, nausea, dizziness, weakness, unsteady gait, etc. After 3 MRI's I have been referred to a pituitary neurosurgeon. MRI revealed a "bright spot" on my pituitary. Sure am glad to know I am bright in some area, unfortunately none I can tap into. What a shame! Anyway can anyone who has had experience with this tell me what to expect? I hate surprise unless they are on my birthday.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
The pituitary gland controls the production and release of various hormnones, it is sometimes called the master gland of the endocrine system. If this gland is acting up, so to speak, it may trigger a Migraine attack, not cause one. An endocrinologist, a doctor who diagnoses and treats hormone problems, including the pituitary gland. I would see this doctor to see if he can help figure out this "bright spot" on the pituitary.
One important thing we can do in managing Migraine disease is to learn and identify Migraine triggers. We have a wonderful tool to do just this, Managing Migraine Trigger Foods. There are also non-food triggers that can be found HERE.
