Breaking your current pain, and getting on a good preventive plan may be worth all the ups and downs you are having now. It is a hard thing to taper of pain medications. Good job on doing just that.

Your body will need time to adjust to your new medication, and that can take up to three months..... but it will be worth it in the end if your Migraine pain is reduced.

Periactin is an antihistimine more often used for Migraine in children.....

Hang in there. Have you been over to the forum for more support?

I've never been in-patient, but I took Nardil for 2 1/2 years. It did a good job for two. Not being able to use triptans was a drag, and the diet restrictions were hard, especially at first. But my head got much better.

I'm taking Lamictal and Wellbutrin. Been on Lamictal for several years, and Wellbutrin for 7. Saw a new specialist in December, and she switched my Effexor to Cymbalta. How strange is that! Are you a redhead as well?

I'm titrating up on the Cymbalta. I haven't had any trouble with going off the Effexor -- it's famous for "discontinuation symptoms." My mood is still good.

I don't remember how long it took for the Nardil to make a difference. But it was great while it worked!
