Update information

By Beth S Friday, February 05, 2010

Laughing  I have lost weight, due to Topmax that I am taking to help with my migrines.  I get only 2 servere headaches a month now. Before I was getting them  twice to 3 times a week and at times using DHE injections if server enough.  I also take vitiam D, Magnesium and Vitiam B to control them.  What a difference it has made for me.

I started taking Topiramate (generic for Topomax) in Nov. and have had only one Migraine in ten weeks as opposed to one every ten days. Previously, I had a weight gain of ten lbs. from a beta blocker (which did not work for migraines) and have had no weight loss from Topiramate altho have low level nausea off and on daily. What do you think caused your weight loss? Was it the nausea that decreased your taste for food? I sure would like to lose this extra weight.

Also, what dosage of Magnesium and Vitamin B2 (assume this is the one) are you taking? I take D with Calcium twice a day -- 500 mg. each time.

I am taking 5-25mg pills a day (2/morning & 3/night) it helped me so much  & I have no side effects at all. I feel very lucky. Before topamax nothing would help my migraines, all meds were worthless. Now I take Imitrax or zomig & they help at least 1/2 the time. Wa Who! My Dr. said weight lose went with a higher dose (higher than mine), that is one side effect. Something else that has helped me is -Healing Touch the Chakra Connection- I do this myself, a friend that is a physical therapist gave me all the info for it. If you can find info on this I would recommend it, it's just an easy relaxing exercise that I do once or twice a week.

My heart goes out to all with migraines, no one understands them unless you have them.  A friend of mine just said to me after I missed an event - You have migraine but I have to put up with heartburn all the time. Yep, I guess that's about the same.
