I'm on oxygen 24/7, and I still get horrendous migraines.

Thursday, September 03, 2009 at 08:12 PMHello, Beth. I have been on 3 liters around the house, when I'm just sitting around or doing quiet work. If I get too stressed, or excerisize, or I'm out and about, I have to switch my oxygen to 4 liters. (Doctor's orders, not at my whim) Even then, my blood oxygen falls down to 81 and up.
I'm giving you this history to try to determine whether oxygen will help. I don't have a blood ox moniter here at home, but I know that when I get exhausted, I have to start deep breathing (I have COPD, the doc said it's end stage). But I haven't made any connection to migraines. I do know that TOO much oxygen can be more dangerous than too little. It can "burn" the lungs, though I can't remember the rest. I do know that premature babies aren't put on it unless neccesary.
Sorry, I tend to ramble. I haven't noticed any changes in when I get one compared to my oxygen levels. I will start paying attention, and let you know if you'd like.
Take care,
jaz

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Oxygen is a fairly common treatment for cluster headaches. It seldom works for Migraines. Talk to your doctor though, it couldn't hurt to try.
