Hi OliviaLee,
I am Taking Fiorinal with Codeine, wich is basically the same thing. I am very happy with it. It is a rescue medication, you use it when your Imitrex fails. You should not use it more than 3 days a week.
For me, it works very well, I do not get any nausea with it, I can function on it, it is one of a of few that works. Love it
Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Fioricet is a rescue medication used when abortive medications fail or cannot be used. Learning to tell the difference between Preventive, Abortive and Rescue medications can be confusing.
Care needs to be taken with medications like fioricet so we don't create another headache cycle called Medication Overuse Headache. This happens when we take certain drugs, even OTC, more than 2-3 times during a one week period. While in MOH preventive meds will not work.
Blood pressure medications are used for Migraine prevention in addition to many other medications.

i have taken fioricet since aug 2007.... it helps most of the time as abortives don't really work for me... they help with the symptoms, but not the pain.
2 weeks ago i had a headache severe enopugh that the doctor decided that i needed something stronger. i now use stadol nasal spray. only when i am home, or somewhere that i can lay down. he still has me on fioricet for when i am working, as that is where most of my headaches strike ( thanks to co workers who use perfume for bathwater)
also watch your diet very closly... i recently found a food trigger that i have eaten all ym life. why it turned on me NOW i don't know. until all this rain started i hadn't had a headache in almost 10 days. and even tho this is triggered by the weather it is nowhere as severe as what i had been having and otc meds have controled my pain.
good luck to you, and let us know how you are doing.

I was just recently considering asking my Dr about frova and fioricet. I think that fioricet is a rescue medication like loritab. Also from reading about it on the computer I think it can help with the tension part of headaches. Their are people on this website that really know their stuff and I am sure that they can give you some really helpful insight! What blood pressure med did they prescribe you if you do not mind me asking?
