I'm new too, and I've been in contual pain for over a year now. I'm also not a quitter, althought I've thought about it at times. I never knew I was even capable of living at all with this much continual pain and I can relate to what you said about losing everything you took for granted. I know from reading Teri's book and other books about heachache that the isolation and grief over the loss of the life/the person you were is terrible. I feel like a zombie most of the time, just trying to stay alive long enough to see if some relief may come my way. I hate the thought of living the rest of my life in this much pain--I'm not sure I can do it (I'm 50). I'll take some courage from you. Best of luck with your education endeavor and I hope things get better for you soon.
Andie, please don't give up! It breaks my heart to hear you say that you don't know if you can continue with this pain. I know it is hard; I have been a daily migraine sufferer for over 6 years. We cannot give in to this. You know, I look at other people with different ailments (cancer survivors, etc.) and they are smiling and look happy. I wish I could do that! Don't you feel sometimes that it is hard to smile through this pain in your head?? That being said, we have to find the strength to smile and to persevere. Remember there are other people going through the same thing you are and misery loves company!!
Welcome to the world of migraine sufferers! I wish I could tell you that this is going to get easier and the answers will come; I can't honestly do that. I have been a DAILY sufferer for over 6 years. I have tried all triptans, naturopathic, chiropractic, neurologists, and quite a few "witch drs" it seems. I think I have read almost everything out there and am constantly searching for new info. My faith and my family is what gets me through -- plain and simple. Many days I want to just give up. It doesn't seem fair to lose so very much of our lives, the simple activities that other people take for granted. The other thing that helps me is to journal. I have journaled my food intake to see if there are triggers there, I do a prayer journal, a pain journal to write down what my pain feels like @ particular times; and a medication journal. For me just to get things written down helps a lot. And to know that there are other people out there that are going through the same thing you are. May I ask what you are taking for your headaches? Are you taking pain meds or triptans? Remember, we are all here for you; just ask!

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Migraine disease is absolutley exhausting at times. I'm glad you found us. Let's see what information we can give you to help you out.
First, if your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
For purposes of treatment, learning about your Migraines, being able to get care if you're away from home, etc., you need a full diagnosis of what type of Migraine you have. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.
Have you tried keeping a Migraine diary? Trigger identification and management is a vital component of managing Migraine disease. One of the best tools for identifying triggers is a good Migraine diary. You can download a free diary workbook from our article Your Migraine and Headache Diary. Some of us have food triggers; some of us don't. It's advisable to determine if your daughter does, and an elimination diet is the best way to do that. For more information and a workbook on this, see Managing Migraine - Migraine Trigger Foods.
