Daily migraines

By Majik Sunday, January 29, 2012

I often read about others who suffer with the brain fog, daily chronic migraines, rebound headaches and depression. I too suffer from all of the above and can think of others at times anxiety to name one. I have a migraine everyday of my life on a pain scale of waking with a 5 usually increasing to between a 7 to 9, this is daily. I haven't worked in a year due to my inablility to predict a migraine, concentrate or focus on tasks of the work place. I am on my way to the Jefferson Headache Center in Philedelphia in Feb. I can't wait I am requesting inpatient to get me off of the 12 meds I currently take daily. I am so grateful for this forum to relate to others who suffer as I do. I also have completed my appeal for social security awaiting the answer. The judge seemed to be symphatic to my suffering. My lawyer was very helpful. Only time will tell.

Thanks for listeningYell migraine 7 today glade I can try to lay down for the night with my best friend the ice pack.

Majik,

I am so sorry to hear what you have been dealing with. I can certainly relate to a great deal of what you say...the brain fog, chronic pain, rebound, depression, anxiety, not being able to concentrate enough to work...I've experienced all of that at some point or other in the last five years.

What I would like to add is I do believe it can get better, by educating yourself as much as possible about your own health conditions and finding and working with a good migraine specialist. It sounds like you are well on your way now with your upcoming visit to Jefferson and with your appeal to Social Security. I do hope things start to turn around for you soon.

Hi,

It's nice to see you posting again and I see you are getting ready to go to the Jefferson next month. That is a great step - world class doctor work there.

Trigger identification and management is an important part of Migraine management and preventing Migraines. You may have some triggers that you can avoid, thus preventing Migraines brought on by those triggers. Do you know what any of your triggers are? When working to identify triggers one of the best tools is a good Migraine diary. You can read more about this and download a free diary workbook in our article  Your Migraine and headache diary .

Do you wake with a Migraine very day? Trouble with sleep can be a real issue for some people. Sleep issues are very common Migraine triggers:

  • too little sleep
  • too much sleep
  • disrupted sleep
  • irregular sleep schedule
  • poor quality sleep

Even if you're sleeping long enough, it may not be good quality sleep. You can get more information in Migraines, Headaches, and Sleep: Video.

Some other interesting information for may be Migraine and Depression May Be Linked Genetically and Medication Overuse Headache: When the Remedy Backfires .

Let us know how you make out at the Jefferson, ok?

Nancy

Like you I'm waking up in pain everyday and just started to see a nuerologist and the pain clinic now also. Some things that I have done on my own lately have been stretching and I bought a new pillow that supposed to be better for people who get headaches. (Water Pillow). I even eliminated pop and all the food triggers from my diet. I think the pillow helped. But 2 days ago they did a trigger point injection and I'm hopeing this helps. They find the spot in your neck that hurts the worst and inject diffrent stuff for me they injected lidocaine and steriods. My head has hurt a little the past two days but it might just be from the injection. So there is still hope. Also they put me months out. And I called them and asked to be put on a canclelation list. And I got in two months early. So I hope things work out for you.

Sounds very familiar.  I'm also a chronic migraineur.  Three years ago I was near suicidal with daily severe debilitating migraines.  I too went to Jefferson and was admitted to Jefferson's Methodist Hospital for IV infusions for a week to break the migraine cycle.  Afterward I was placed on all new meds and had a new doctor at Jefferson I saw every month for a year.  It's a forty minute drive, but my husband takes me since I don't drive often.  It's worth it, they are so wonderful at the Headache Center.  I now get Botox injections and I only go every three months.  I still have migraines often, but not daily like before.  Usually I have about two or three a week, which is a big improvement.  I also was applied and was granted disability and was able to retire from my job, so I feel very fortunate.  I wish you the best of luck with that, don't give up, that's great you have an attorney.  I also hope you receive a treatment plan that helps you and relieves the suffering you've been going through.
