Triggers

By Penny Sewell Monday, February 11, 2008
I am a 29 year old woman who has only found one trigger for my migraines. My doctors have not been able to find any meds that will stop or cut down my attacks. Some monthes I will go weeks without a migraine but when one hits it hits. I am going in tomorrow to speak with my doctor one more time if she cannot help me I am thinking about going to a specalist in Anchorage. Did I mention that I live in Alaska.Big Smile  Does anyone else have any trigger issues? I started to run out of hope for any kind of relief.

I have two identifiable triggers. Sun light and Stress. Yeah, those are easy to avoid!! You would probably be better off seeing a Headache Specialist. good luck =)

Whatever you do, please, don't give up.  If you can get to a migraine/headache specialist, go for it!

Come on over to the discussion forum for additional support and information.  To get there, hold your mouse at Manage or Connect, and a menu will come down.  Click on Migraine Forums.  Registration for the forums is separate from registration for this page, but you can use the same information to register.

Take care.

We've got a separate folder on triggers on our Forum, along with a Question and Answers folder. There's a list of possible triggers on the site, too.

Sometimes, there's no discernable trigger. I have chronic migraines (more than 15 a month), and I can rarely identify a trigger.

Are you on a daily preventive?

There's a list of patient-recommended specialists on the site. One of the Forum hosts can give you a link.

Ask your doctor about having a telephone consult with a specialist. S/he might be willing to ask a specialist for suggestions for treatment.

I hope to see you in the Forums!

So far we have not found a daily preventative med that works for me. We are still looking. I will bring up the consult when I go back in. I have had 3 migraines this month so far. Thanks for your advise and information.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease. Migraine - What Is It? is an article written by Teri Robert, Lead Expert, explaining exactly what a Migraine is.

Triggers can be things like food, the weather, even certain types of light bulbs. Have you tried keeping a Migraine diary? This is a very useful tool to see what is going on with triggers and medications. Click HERE for our downloadable diary.

I'm sorry to say at the moment we don't have a Migraine specialist in Alaska on our patient recommened list. You can click HERE for our list.

Thank you for creating a SharePost. SharePosts are a form of blogging, and there are many things you can do with them. You can share an experience, suggest something that's helped you, use SharePosts as a Migraine and headache journal, and many other things.

We also have a discussion forum that you may want to check out. Especially if you have questions or are looking for information, you may find the interaction on the forum to be quite helpful. To get to the forum, just look for the orange box marked "Manage" and click on the Migraine Forums link. Because our forums are maintained by a third party, you'll need to register for the forum. You can use the same information you used to create your community log-in if you like. If you want to go directly to the forum, you can click HERE.

Along with your personal "My Home" page and the discussion forum, you'll find links to a great deal of helpful information on the main page of our site, http://www.MyMigraineConnection.com. Also on our home page in the upper left hand corner is a spot where you can sign up for our free newsletter on Migraine disease.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them to the forum or send me a message through my profile.

Welcome again,
