Yes I do for the last 10 years, it sucks, but eventually the migraine will change in nature, now I get vertigo...I take verapamil and effexor as prevention, and this has helped tremendously!

I have just been to a new doctor and he has mentioned that I may be suffering from hemiplegic or some type of hemicranial migraine.  I am still being assessed.  I have been taking Verapamil 240 mg twice a day for about ten years for migraine.  My new doctor is adding Magnesium, Vitamin B2 and Co-enzime Q and Indocin to my arsenal.  Topomax will be added if needed.

I have had atypical migraine for 35 years.  It started with abdominal and head migraine when I was 12.

For some reason, I have een going through a very tough time since June of this year.

I wish you well.

Hi Sandy:

I was diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines about 2004...it is one of the rare ones that is for sure. It affects the left side of my body and the last time I was hospitalized for it was in August 2009.

I've been in and out of the hospital rehab unit at least 3 different times as an in-patient and 2 times as out-patient.

It's tough when the doctor's think it is your fault and you can "snap out of it". One even said I was depressed and I needed anti-depressants!!! LOL. But I take it one day at a time.

Hang in there!

Meredith
