I am wondering how do YOU function?

I am reading all your different posts...."on day 10 with my migraine" or " day 15"

How do you do it??? How do you keep going in so much pain? Mine completly cripple me.

I work 40+ hrs a week and coach soccer, VP of the booster club and try to run the house hold....how, how, how do you do it?

You have no choice but to go on and function. I am sure many here can say that like myself you put on a game face and go forward what choice do we have.  I know every restroom in all the places I go or ask as soon as I get there for that just in case factor, we are the ones with the dark glasses on in the store so the florecent lights don't set one off when we go out, we are the ones with the hats pulled way down so you can hardly see our faces, excuse ourselves from meeting and events to go sit in our vehicles to cry before putting on that game face again.  The pain, the fear of the next one, our preventive meds, fast acting pain killers are how we function, and knowing our limits is how we do it.  Now with that being said I will also say that there are days, times, even moments when we can't or don't function and for me those are the days when I hide from everyone and everything praying for the pain to end.

I wish you the best of luck and as long as you can keep doing what you love to do keeping doing it just know your limits and be ready.  Good luck!

Honestly I don't know!  When I read your post I decided to reply because I really felt like someone knew what it was like.  I too hate to have to tell the Dr.  It isn't working.  I am on Topamax and have been on and off of it and other meds for years (diagnosed migraines for over 23 years) the worst part of my life is my husband is a surgeon.  You would think this would be a plus but it makes my life a nightmare.  Everyone treats me with kid gloves and my narcotics are handed out in baby portions.  Now days no one wants to lose their License and no one wants to be accused of making a docs wife into an addict.  I fortunately, still receive mersyndol from friends in New Zealand that helps with tension headaches.

I used to travel 100%, leave Mondays on a 6 AM flight fly from ATL to the West Coast get back Friday night.... and repeat.  My migraines were the same as yours 10-12 days and with the Topamax affecting memory I wonder how many computers systems I programmed incorrectly .

It helps to keep a journal and write things down, never think you are alone and allow some time to vent and a little time for yourself ( if only 30 minutes) It really helps.  I also changed jobs.  Less money but less stress and I started yoga and really exercising.  My doctor did also start me on a regimen of magnesium which most migraine sufferers are said to lack.  It did help with my daily migraines but it didn't help with my menstrual migraines which can last up to 3 weeks.  This might as well be DAILY!! But they usually are just 2 weeks. And come and go during that 2 week period

I know!

Like now, im sitting here at work, in horrible pain, taken so many meds its making me sick & shaky....but Im out out pain pills (and have been for quite some time) and Im terrified to call up the Dr again. I know what will happen....same as last time. So I sit here & suffer horribly. This Topamax is making me crazy I think!! Either that, or my husband likes to play crule jokes on me.....like, you never told me that, or what are you talking about....I swear I think I am going crazy most of the time. The others here in the office look at me like Im nuts-o........Whats wrong with me??!!

Nothing is wrong with you, your just like the rest of us and that is ok.  I understand those cruel jokes husbands playLaughing when the drugs effect our memorys and our abilities to sometimes not be able to fallow the simplest instructions.  If your out of your med call your doc and get in to see him.  You don't have to live like this and neither do the rest of us.  I understand how you feel about the people at work looking at you weird, talking behind your back that from the ones that don't know what is going on or even worse yet the ones that do know start treating you like your a 2 year old and ask every day if you took your meds, did you eat, or the one that drove me most nuts "Honey, how does your head hurt today I wish I could take the pain away for you."  Like they really want the great wonderful feelings we get from the pain and the side effects of all the meds.

Good luck and may the angel smile on you today because your not crazy and there is nothing wronge with you.
