Well - today I have another migraine coming on (I'm in the middle of the aura as I write), and this is day three after the start of Topamax (25). I took 2.5 of zomig, so we'll see what happens..... it was nice not having migraines after 2 days. I noticed about 1 hour before the aura that my vision was blurry and that I had trouble focusing or finding words - I guess I'm getting Topamax side effects as well as the migraine onset. *sigh* 
Your word-finding problems could have been Topamax side effects, or it could have been from the migraine coming on. I often have word-finding troubles as a migraine approaches, or especially during the migraine. If that's a new symptom for you, be sure to let your doctor know about it.
Preventives such as Topamax can take a couple of months to "kick in." It's frustrating, but there's no way to know if it will work but to try it and wait.
