About Me

About the age of 7 I remember I use to get very nauseasated and my head would hurt really bad. I would go into these sweating spells then start vomiting which would usually last for the day into the evening because of the dry heaving. My mom always called it the 24 hour flu. I remember going to the doctors when I was in the first part of junior high about it because in the summer it happened quiet often. The doctor just said I was alergic to the sun and to stay out of the sun during the afternoons and to remain as cool as possible and drink more water when it was hot. That only made me vomit more.
When I was in high school and first married the doctors thought it was an issue with my nerves. I don't remember the drugs they put me on but I do remember that I had trouble focusing at home doing things and it was difficult raising mychildren so I stopped those drugs.
I couldn't take OTC meds like Asperin or Excederin because I would automatically vomit those up. So, I ended up from the age of around 22 to 47 having nothing for my pain. I lived in the bathroom like I did as a child.
I started getting some help from a new doctor I had for some fibromyalgia problems I was having. Shw was a doctor who believed in fibro issues for women so I choose her for my new primary care doc. She started me up on some meds to help me with trying to control the daily pain. At the time there was just the injection of Imitrex. So I would have to give it to myself or go to the ER. I choose the ER in the beginning. She did put me on some other type pain meds that did and did not help some. Eventually she said in 2000 that I really should be seeing a neuro and she referred me to one.
That is when things really began to change for me. Lots of testing and trying of different meds. Two years later topamax came along.........................................................and blew me away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I experienced everyone of the side effects to the helt except for th weight loss. I stuck it out though. I didn't know what to do. SHould I or shouldn't I. The life I lived before topa was really nothing. I still have lots of problems and issues to deal with every day but my head is much much better. I still deal with alot of pain but I do not deal with the convulsive part of the migraine episodes that I had to go through. I do not want to go through those again. I get so paranoid just thinking about them.
Now when I do get head pain I can give myself an Imitrex injection and the head pain (most times) is gone in about 15 minutes or so. I still have the migraine hangover but for the most part it is much better coping with since I didn't have to go through the heaving for hours.
The only problem now is I know that there was depression along with the migraine which is common and expected. The thing is now I am experiencing more than usual in depression so I am not sure where it is coming from. I am having to deal with it and don't exactly know how to get help for it since I don't know where it is coming from and how to explain it to which doctor. Sometimes it really gets pretty challenging though.
Hopefully I will figure it out soon. Could be the meds or it could be something new.

Thanks for listening. Glad I finally found Tei's place. My gosh, I don't post much but do like to read. Don't proof read so good luck reading everyone.
