I'm still not doing well. The medication my neurologist put me on was working until two days ago then I started to experience bad side effects. Because of that I was removed from that drug immediately and have been back to experiencing debilitating migraines since.
For now until we find something that will not have any side effects on my other anti convulsants, I will keep taking Tramadol. I just wanted to give you all an update as to what was happening.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Thank you for creating a SharePost. SharePosts are a form of blogging, and there are many things you can do with them. You can share an experience, suggest something that's helped you, use SharePosts as a Migraine and headache journal, and many other things.
I've taken a look at your questions in the Q&A and read your profile. You certainly have been through a lot! I wish we had better anwers for you. Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease and with major brain surgery like you had, I can only imagine what your head has been through.
You've mentioned your doctors have been there with you through it all. It might be time for another opinion. The doctors I have been working with are very open to other opinions when we get stumped on something in my treatment. And not all Migraine specialists are created equal. I hope you'll take a look at our patient recommended Migraine specialist link you can find HERE and let us know what you think.
We also have a discussion forum that you may want to check out. Especially if you have questions or are looking for information, you may find the interaction on the forum to be quite helpful. To get to the forum, just look for the orange box marked "Manage" and click on the Migraine Forums link. Because our forums are maintained by a third party, you'll need to register for the forum. Welcome again,

Thanks for the feedback and your information Nancy. I will be looking at it closer in the coming days for sure. To give you more information on what had happened, I was taking something called Protriptyline (sp?) and it was working beautifully. My goodness it was like we had found the miracle drug you know? When those 10 days had come around that was when the nasty side effects had come around and let me tell you I was scared to death. I was in the middle of taking a shower and my arms went limp, it was the worst point of my life.
At any rate, I have lived with epilepsy all my life since a child and I am now 40. I now have it under control thanks to a VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulator) which I had in 2007. The chronic migraines are from brain surgery that took place in 1995 (removal of temporal lobe and scar) which was first attempt at stopping the seizures that worked for six years.
We did have a handle on the migraine issue when I was taking a beta blocker for a few years. Oddly enough, they were completely gone when I was receiving treatment for pain management with a back injury from a car accident (I was the passenger) We were struck from behind but it damaged my lower back. For two years I was receiving EPIs and things of that nature. Do you know I had no migraines to speak of at that time? I've been thinking a lot about that lately.
At any rate, thank you once again and I will keep in touch.
