I was diagnosed with New Daily Persistant Headache by my new headache specialist. He thought that if I got better sleep my head pain would begin to go down. I have been on my sleep meds for weeks now and have not shown any improvement.
Nothing helps my pain except for opioid rescue meds and now they aren't helping enough. I haven't really tried Toredol yet and I am going to ask him about it tomorrow. All of the infusions (magnesium, lidacain, robaxin, and many more) that I have had had made me feel worse.I'm not getting out of bed and I just can't get comfortable.
I'm seeing a chiropractor who is doing cranial saccral relaxation, ultrasound, muscle stimulation and acupuncture. My chiro really thinks that my headache is caused by the stenosis and curve reversal of my neck and he wants me to stop taking all of my meds. I think that is a really bad idea.
I hurt so bad and don't know what to do. Help!

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH) is a primary headache disorder, which means there is no other disorder that is causing it. There are also some other conditions that can mimic NDPH which need to be ruled out before a diagnosis is confirmed. An interesting point is that most patients (82%) can pinpoint the exact day their headache began. When you get a chance take a look at this article New Daily Persistent Headache - The Basics.
Sleep will help with lots of things, but is not specific to NDPH. On the other hand, Transformed Migraine Related To Sleep Problems is an issue.
One thing to keep in mind if your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Just because he says he is a headache specialist, doesn't make it so. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
