I have been doing better since changing medications and seeing the headache specialist in SF. Eventhough the migraines are better I still get this wierd symptom that puzzles me. Sometimes I think it is the prodrome to the actual migraine other times I just don't know.
Usually the real migraine ends up on the right side of my head near my neck and on up. But previously I have been fooled with this wierd pain on the left side in my trapezius. It feels more like a muscle that just won't release but sometimes I just don't know....
Has anyone else had this experience?? I just don't know quite how to manage it. This will most certainly be a question for the headache specialist, it is just so hard to explain!

are you saying that when you have this tension in your neck and shoulder that it sometimes means a migraine is coming, and other times it is just pain?
I have very similar symptoms but on the left side instead. A muscle on the left side of my neck towards the base of my skull goes bezerk when I'm getting a bad migraine. It tenses up so hard it feels like a rock. But I always have tenderness there and some in my shoulder. It's kind of a constant thing in the background that I live with...but I am a college student and I lug a bookbag around all day.
Sorry, I don't think I fully understand your question but I wanted to try to answer
don't be sorry, It is hard to explain. Since I have problems with my neck anyway it gets all jumbled up. I think the migraine goes to the weakest spot and takes off from there. How's that for a theory? My latest question for the headache specialist is so how do I manage that pain? It is just all very exhausting.
