I've managed to get my migraines under control but now I am struggling with sinus headaches. I live in the mountains and the weather can change every hour. Over the counters for sinus pressure don't do anything and neither does imitrex. Is there any way I can relieve the pressure?

Hi Nebula,
A common belief is that we have a "sinus" headache when in fact it really may be a Migraine. It is easy to understand how we can think that especially when we have symptoms , because there are tons of medications labeled for "sinus" headache.
A "real" sinus headaches is usually a side effect of a sinus infection, which is a common ailment. Thirty seven million Americans get at least one sinus infection every year, according to the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. Some symptoms of a sinus infection include fever, swollen lymph nodes and a persistent green or yellow nasal discharge. If these symptoms aren't present and you still have a headache, you likely have Migraines, said Dr. Eross from the Mayo clinic in AZ, who lead a study on sinus headache. Weather certainly may trigger a Migraine attack, along with certain foods, not enough or too much sleep and dehydration. Add these up and "stackable triggers" could be a real problem. Check out Migraine trigger page for information HERE. Stackable triggers occur when, let's say, the weather pressure changes, you are dehydrated and woke up late - stacked so to speak. I hope this helps.
