Hello! I just recently (4 weeks ago) had brain surgery and had a 11 x 17 mm pineocytoma (benign tumor) removed. I know there is not much posted on here and I did find a girl that had one removed and it was so helpful to be able to comunicate with her with questions and getting answers from someone that went through this already. I'll be happy to share my experience, recovery, etc with anyone that is going through the same or has any questions.

Isa,
Thanks for making this post. My questions are: What symptoms did you have as a result of the tumor? And have all your symptoms resolved now the tumor has been removed?
I hope your recovery continues to go well. Thanks for sharing your story!
Hello Melanie,
I was having severe headaches... more so than usual, but what caused me to schedule an appointment with my doctor was dizziness. I have always suffered from headaches since I was a child so even though my headaches had worsen, it was not an alarm to me. But the dizziness came all of a sudden. I would feel dizzy standing, sitting, driving, etc. First I though it could be stress related so I gave it some time to go away one its own, but after a couple of week of everyday getting these symptoms I decided to get checked and the first thing i asked my doctor was for an MRI. They suggested to try other things first but I wanted peace of mind, so even if it would come back ok, at least it gave me the peace that it was nothing to be concerned of. Well the results end up coming back with a cyst so they scheduled a second MRI with contrast and that is when they saw the mass attached to the cyst. My primary care physician said there was nothing they could do and that any doctor would tell me the same. they could just give me medication to control the symptoms. I felt very desperate at that point. The thought of a tumor in my brain was not very appealing to me. A friend knew an excellent neuro surgeon in my area and I made an appt to see him. When i saw him I felt such a relief. He said there was not cure or remedy without being invasive, but that with surgery all my symptoms would go away and the chances of a re-growth are very minimal. So he did my surgery and all went well praise God! Recovery was really slow the first 4 weeks, something i did not expect but it has been 2 months now and I feel great. Headaches come and go but they are very mild, and my dizziness is completely gone!
hope this info helps a little. Sorry it took me so long to respond.
Isa~
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. It occurred to me I'd better say I don't have a pineal tumor myself (that I know of!) but I can't help being intensely curious about anything migraine related.
I'm so glad to hear you persevered in getting answers, sought out the neuro-surgeon's advice and that the surgery itself had such a positive outcome for you. Imagine if you had just accepted your primary's initial opinion! Your story is a real testament to the results of strong self-advocacy, none-the-less you are very brave to have taken the path you did.
Good luck to you as you continue your recovery.
