struggling with hemiplegic migraine

By tejmc Saturday, February 16, 2008

My tentative diagnosis, after three months of testing, is hemiplegic migraine.  At the end of September I started losing the use of my right leg for a few minutes every few days.  I finally saw my doctor the end of October.

It has progressed so I have at least three episodes a week.  Sometimes only my leg is weak, others I can't move my leg, arm or even sit up or put a coherent sentence together for hours at a time.  I have progressed to coma only once, which was quite scary for my family!

The doctors tried Keppra (seizure) med, but it didn't help.  They tried Aggrenox (tia) but it triggered a three week migraine!  I stopped taking it last Wednesday and they are trying Verapamil.  We'll see if this one works.
