Hi!  I am a migraine sufferer who is soooo fed up with dealing with this!!  I started having frequent migraines about a year ago and have tried so many meds it's ridiculous.  I just got back from ER this morning, as a matter of fact, from dealing with a 2 day migraine.  They gave me a shot, sent me home, as ususal.  Gave me a script for Fioricet.  Never taken it before, but I still have this migraine as I write this post.  I am sick of going to ER's and doctors and finding no cures.  Oh yeah, Imitrex only makes my head hurt worse and makes me REALLY nauseated.  This is really getting depressing, so I hope to be able to talk to others who have this same condition and understand.  Please feel free to send me a note anytime.  I'm open to any suggestions.  Hope everyone is having a migraine-free day!!!

First of all I know ur pain all too well. I deal with them on a daily. I am tired of doctors tellin me that they are at a loss about what to do. Right now im on a injection called Stadol and i inject myself 2 times a day and for now it works along with other meds, but we have to hang in there until someone out there finds something to help ppl like us out.

Hey.  Hope that 2 day migraine has broke.  I have suffered with chronic migraines and chronic daily HA for about 2.5 years now.  I am unable to work.  Are you on  any preventative meds?  I am on some new preventatives and am finding some relief.  I take Namenda (it is an Alzheimer's drug that has been proven in some studies to help prevent migraines), verapamil (blood pressure drug), zonegran (seizure drug) and magnesium.  I was in an almost 3 week migraine cycle when I was lucky enough to get an appointment within 1 day at the headache clinic at the Cleveland Clinic.  I had been treating at a headache center in Pittsburgh for 2.5 years but the HAs have gotten progressively worse.  The new doc took me off some of the meds that the other HA doc had put me saying that they were causing rebound or medication overuse headache.  The old doc said that I could take ibuprofen 3X a week, but the new doc said that was way too much.  So I am coming off a bunch of meds.  To break that cycle I was on a high dose 6 day prednisone taper.  It brought it down from about an 8 to a 3 or a 4.  So I am waiting for all of the new preventatives to take affect.  Do you have a HA specialist?  I pray that you find some blessed sweet relief.  -  Kayleen

If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

FYI - Fiociet  is a medication the Migraine specialists we work with do not recommend in the generic form. It just doesn't work as well. And ANY use of opioids or barbiturates and frequent use of triptans and NSIADs are associated with increased risk of transformed Migraine. See Transformed Migraine - Risk Increased by Some Medications for more information on this.
