By winter fairie Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Hi I am a 31 yo female who has had a head ache for a straight month now with vomiting everymorning. I have visual disturbances which include flashing lights, my left eye vision is in black and white, i have jerking movements especially when i go to bed and i have memory loss where there is a period i can not remeber that just happened. All of this is new to me and would like some imput and also i have no health insurance so if any one knows of a medical facility that helps with this I do not qualify for state helath assistance and i live in Illinois.

I have felt like i was going crazy and when i go to er i get told to suck it up. i would just like some answers

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well now. Is this a brand new head pain? Have you ever had Migraine/head pain before? If not, I would think that a CT or MRI would be done to rule out other conditions if this is a sudden issue. In fact, if this is sudden medical attention should be sought asap.

Having said that, it is important to get an accurate diagnosis. That can only be provided by a doctor who can review your medical history, go over your symptoms and do a complete exam in person - not online. And you wouldn't want that done online anyway.

Migraine triggered seizure - as explained in the 2nd Edition of The International Headache Society's International Classification of Headache Disorders,(ICHD-2) -

is a seizure triggered by a Migraine with aura (and has been called Migralepsy.) But all the symptoms of the Migraine attack are fully reversible, and don't usually linger on for weeks on end.

I understand about it being difficult to pay for doctors and medications too. Unless you qualify for Medicare or Medicaid, I don't know of many resources for paying doctors, but most of the pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs to provide free medications to patients with no insurance who meet their income guidelines. Those guidelines are pretty generous. Try going to http://www.pparx.org/ to check on all of your medications. You list all of them on the site, and it will tell you which ones have programs you qualify for. It will then even take you through the process to fill out the application forms and print them. You then take them to your doctor for his or her signature and send them in.
