This past week has been very strange.
Last weekend, I had back-to-back bad migraines, with pain topping out at a 7 both days. Then I had five low-pain days, with the pain a 5 or less every day. (5 doesn't sound like low pain, I know, but I consider pain background noise until it gets above a 5.) Each day, I was only at a 2-3 until late afternoon/early evening, and even then it wasn't that bad.
This week was also weird, because it was sunny all week. (Very rare for winter here.)
Today brought a storm front, rain thinking about becoming snow, and the more typical migraine pain I'm used to. Higher level of pain overall (a 3-4 all day, topping out around 5). More dizziness and nausea. More what I'm used to. So I'm beginning to think that weather affects me much more than I realize.
I'm writing this down to make sure I speak with my HA specialist about it when I see her again. I know that weather is one of my stackable triggers, but it's entirely possible that the normal winter rainy day affects my head more than I think. It's too early to know definitively, so this goes in the "maybe" column for now. Nevertheless, I'm happy I had a relatively low pain week.
Unfortunately, my nortriptyline side effects have gotten more noticeable. The constipation is much worse. I've upped my magnesium dose (with my neuro's ok) to counteract that. I'm definitely getting increased appetite, usually after I eat, and constant cravings for sweets. This is not helping me avoid sugar like I should be! Another thing I will be telling my specialist.
Oh well. This disease really keeps us on our toes, doesn't it?
