keeping the romance alive in the face of the beast

By MaxJerz Friday, February 08, 2008

So, this February, DBF and I are finding little ways to keep the romance in our relationship, even living with migraine disease as an unwelcome guest in our home. We're trying to remind ourselves that while I may have migraines, migraines do not have us. And one day, when my head is under better control, we'll take that exotic vacation and have an amazing time.

Max,

What a wonderful holiday you and your DBF have selected.  You've taken into consideration all right things.  I have a theroy that if you plan for all the things that could go wrong they are less likely to go wrong.  There is no basis in fact for this, but maybe because we are more relaxed, fewer worries, it all helps for us to just sit back, enjoy.

And enjoy you will.  My daughter just returned from a senior science trip there and it was incrediable.  They did have snow at the beach, a rare occurance.  The pictures she brought back of the area are breath taking.  Watching a storm brew from that ocean view room would be rather exciting to sit back and watch.

On that Monday afternoon(President's Day), in the SF Bay region there is a minus tide in the afternoon that would make tide pool wandering very interesting.  I dont' know how that translates into the tides up there and when you will be driving home, but I thought I would mention it.  I love climbing around tide pools and we will be going out that afternoon.

Enjoy your trip and getting ready for it!!

Thanks for your comments, Cindy! I agree with you, that the more you plan for things that can go wrong, the less things do go wrong. Hopefully that holds true for this trip.

I'm actually hoping a storm blows through while we're on vacation. It would be amazing to watch from our room. Grin

I'll have to check out this minus tide thing, and see if that means anything up on our end of the coast.

Obviously we're very much looking forward to our long weekend away. I'll bring back pictures!Big Grin

I think your trip sounds like a fantastic idea. After reading your post, I am wondering if I can talk Dh into a weekend getaway soon. I doubt he is off for President's Day, though. He has been working 7 days a week since Thanksgiving until last Sunday. Mainly due to me not being able to work right now. I want to try to do something really special for him for Valentine's Day, just not sure what yet. I hope you and your DBF have a fabulous time. It sounds like you have planned for everything. Just take it as it comes, and you will be fine. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the beastie stays away!!

Have fun!!

Thanks, Sherry! I'm very glad that DBF and I decided to do this. Like I said, my health has gotten in the way of many plans, so I am very determined to enjoy myself in spite of the migraines!

Maybe if you and DH can't get away for a whole weekend, you could at least spend one day/night away from home. I hear you on wanting to do something special for him for V-Day. DBF's birthday was on Dec 18, and I *really* wanted to do something special for him. Unfortunately I couldn't take him out to dinner until a few days later, but he really appreciated going out to eat since we do it so rarely anymore.

I'll be sure to let everyone here know about our trip when we get back - I can't wait!Grin

MJ - You're probably of on your trip by now.  I hope it is lovely and as pain-free as possible.   I agree that getting away does wonders for your relationship and state of mind.  Great jb on the planning.  I was on in Olympic National Park once as a child - I remember the fabulous black sand beach.  Enjoy!
