Hi,

I am in Montana, I suffer from horrid migraines. I have applied for disability and been rejected 2 times, am now waiting to go in front of law judge, which will take another 12 months.

I need to be able to go to dr but can not afford it....I begged for help today, they told me to go to the er....I need to see my regular doc, but unless I can pay up front that is not possible....can't pay up front as I am not working, haven't for almost 2 years...hubbys income is $10 above the medicaid limit, so that is not an option.

Does anyone out there know of a way I can go to dr, get help, anything? I am desperate....ER means being lablelled drug seeker, getting the temporary fix and not really getting help, just a bandaid then rebound cycles...been there done that!

Please advise? Help? anything?

Thanks

I know exactly how you feel. The ER is there for when you are bleeding all over the place or something is falling off or elderly and having a heart attack. ER doctors are only "emergency" situation doctors they have no patience for pain they can't see associated with a wound. When I used to go to the ER for help that is exactly what they think of you "a drug seeker" it is a horrible feeling. I haven't been to an ER in years. It is hard to keep a job and keep it long enough to get health insurance. I am not married, I am a single parent and sometimes go to a clinic where homeless, poor and immigrants go just to get some kind of help. All they prescribe is generic so anything that is better, not a chance. I don't know anything about disability so good luck. I have personal opinions about law and government, it is all backwards to me. Take care.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

Health care in this country is in vital need of repair, as we both well know. These are some things that can be utilized when there is no or little health care coverage. Larger hospitals usually have teaching centers that have clinics (like pain or neurology) associated with them. Most accept patients at a reduced rate.

There is a prescription drug program called Partnership for Prescription Assistance where you can find assitance for medication.

I can honestly feel your situation. I stopped working last July because of Migraines. I have suffered with headaches since I was early teen, then migraines started about the age of 26. I am 41, and I couldn't even work part time. I went to college got a decent job, making GOOD money, then I had to quit. I exhausted all my vacation. I had FMLA papers signed by my doctor, so they couldn't let me go. However, my boss was not very understanding at all. I too have been denied disability 2x and got an attorney. It will take me 2 1/2 years for a Law Judge to hear my case. In the meantime, I haven't had insurance was denied for medicaid. So, the only thing I can say is there is a HCAP program. It's Hospital Care Assurance Program. It's like medicaid. If you fall into the income level, you fill out this form, and they will write your bill off. But.........you have to be very low income. I am getting married this Saturday, May 3rd. One reason, is for insurance benefits. I've been with my boyfriend 4 years, and he is supporting me now, with no complaints, honestly. He's pretty awesome about this pain! If I can get cured in the 2 1/2 year wait.............I will go back to work. But......I couldn't hardly get to work, or work a whole day without the migraines, so here I am. I wish you luck, and I know it sucks to not have any money and have to suffer like we do. Maybe your family doctor could give you shots of Torodol, and Phenergan, that's what mine does, and it will help my migraine at least for awhile. It might even break the cycle. Hang in there, and keep praying. If you believe, he will heal you in time. I believe that!
