I knew it was too good to last... panicking a little

By smith reynolds Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I have been relatively stable on Imitrex injections 2-3 times a week. My health care will no longer allow more than 2 shots per mo. Praying the neurologist will be helpful. Just want to steer clear of as much pharmaceutical involvement as I can. I just kicked Lexapro, and that was not easy...Okay that's it.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

So glad you've found us.....not wanting to be the bearer of bad news, but if you need to take 2-3 Imitrex injections a week, your Migraines aren't very well managed. You see, anyone who has three or more Migraines a month needs to be talking with their doctor about prevention. There's growing evidence that Migraine is a progressive brain disease. A recent study showed that Migraines can cause brain damage, and that people with three or more Migraines a month are more susceptible to this damage. For more information, see Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease? and Yes, Migraines Can Cause Brain Damage.

Have you ever tried preventive medication before? There are over 100 that are available for Migraine prevention. When you get a chance take a look at this article; Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up.
