About Me

I've had migraines since I was a kid, around the age of 9 or 12, somewhere around that time. Migraines have been a part of my life for so long, I truly forget what life was like before. Migraines have come with me to just about every important function and time in my life. I've tried to ignore them, keep pushing through my day, until now. I am done trying to prove that I can push through my migraines, done trying to prove that I can do as much as the 'regular joe or jane'. As of now, I am just trying out a Cpap machine which is suppose to help with migraines...well, I am sleeping better and getting up more refreshed but since my health insurance ran out and I can't afford my medications any more, I am stuck in migraine mode and looking at the cost of a cpap machine that has no guarantee to actually reduce the number of migraines. Oh the joy of living with migraines. I'd like to know how our government, who rules on every drug that is made available to us, can allow the prices of medication be so high that we can't afford them. That in itself is a headache! Life with Migraines do make a person appreciate the good days and it also makes us prone to nasty digs and comments on how we 'choose' not to work, how we are looked down at because we are over 'sensitive'...pretty much have heard more than my fill with those kind of comments which came from teachers growing up, came from bosses who had not a clue as to what a migraine is/was and even from family members and friends...no one is immune to their comments and 'ideas' on what a migraine is about. At 50 yrs old, I am comfortable with my 'choices' and now regard anyone who feels it necessary to make those little nasty digs and comments, just ignorant people. Uneducated. Funny thing is, when you let them know that they are ignorant on the subject, their feelings get hurt? Now imagine that? At least when you talk with other's who get migraines, the literally get what your talking about...no pun intended. Refreshing is the acceptance and the understanding from these people....it's a shame that more people don't truly understand what it is we go through...but then, wouldn't that be wishing for a perfect world? Now where did I put those pink shades??
