My Brain never stops hurting

By LifeWanted Saturday, October 27, 2007

Since I have been on preventative medication for my migraines, Topamax and now Depakote the right side of my brain never stops hurting. I describe it has a dual headache on the entire right side of the brain. Sometimes it feels like the tingly sensation like when your foot falls asleep and you begin to move it. Any thoughts would be helpful.  Thank you and I hope for everyone to have a painless day!

I had a weird scalp pain for the first 3 months that I was on Topamax (but not when I was on Depakote).

The scalp pain was not that bad- not like a headache exactly, more like a scratchy, itchy, tingly feeling, as though I had sunburn on my scalp (but I did not have sunburn). Is that what yours is like?

Thank you for your comment.  My entire right side of my brain hurts inside my head.  I switched to Depakote about two weeks ago.  My migraines have not gotten any better but they say it will take up to 3 months.  I hope I can keep my job if I can not work 3 to 4 days out of two weeks.

I was on Topamax for 3 months, and had horrible side-effects.  I was, among other things, unable to sweat.  This was of particular problem since I was on it in the summer.  It also gave me this 'fog' in my brain that I couldn't shake.  I also found that I got headaches all the time...not migraines, but headaches.  My doc took me off.  Would recommend talkign to your doctor-if you are literally in pain every day, You are either sensitive to the medicine or the medicine is not working.
