Shut Down

Time inches forward with the sluggish mind lagging,
Thousands of iridescent sparkles dance in the sky,
with worms of light and pain twisting inside the eyes.
Noise is piercing but hearing is muffled
I speak and forget and mumble the jumble.
At first the very small knot of electrical pain,
Then shoots through the mind,
Reflecting off the bone.
Everything felt is too much.
The world is too intense.
Skull throbbing,
Shooting pain,
Eyes...

The haze is lifting, finally

I have been on Lyrica, 150 mg, for a bit now. And at that dose I have been having issues. Some issues I can do little about, side effects like spwelling and muscle pain. But one side effect had to stop. In the morning I was so beyond groggy I have no word for it; loopy, confused and right out of it. AIWS plus migraine plus grogginess equals inability to function or move. Plus big memory gaps. Time itself...

Back to daily migraines

Well, the Lyrica was definately working as a preventative, which I was aware of, even if it did not sound impressive... migraines three times a week and more for hormonal is way better than everyday. Plus the Axert just does not quite work as well as the Amerge and Imitrex, as in the migraine comes back, but I can avoid the more adverse affects of triptan use if I do not use the Axert every day or twice a day. It is just the daily...

Dumb and dumber... side effect hell

I am the stupidest smart person I know. Honestly. I ran out of my Axert script, as in used it too many times and can't get more for a week. However, I had some Amerge left over. I was getting some adverse affects from it, as in asthma attacks and shortness of breath. But given the fact that if I miss one more day of work I will be fired, I essentially thought I could handle the aggravted asthma with more asthma...

What the neuro says

Sometimes I think doctors simply do not move fast enough for me and my inevitable fustration. I suppose I ought to be satisfied with anything than enables me to actually function at work, whatever the side effects, given that whole need to have money to live thing... such a drag. So, I am still on the Lyrica, as my neuro is not sure the effects I have been having are from it, or if they are, if they will be a regular problem. ...

Goin to the neuro, yet again

I have been back to work for a few extremely painful weeks and it has been a struggle. It is not so much the migraines, they cause as much trouble as before, making me take Amerge way more than I ought to, but little else to do. But it is also the side effects. My doc is not sure whether these side effects (severe muscle pain, muscle fatigue, shaking, tremors) are due to the Lyrica (am rather hoping not) or from using the...

This may seem stupid...

My neuro put me on Amerge for hormonal migraines. My doc did not put me on an abortive since I had chest pains and breathing issues with Imitrex. I have been on Amerge years ago and never had any issues with it at that time. And really I need something to deal with the hormonal migraines, as Lyrica does not do anything to them and I am returning to work as soon as my boss gets back to me. In order to return to work I must...

All around good

The Lyrica has been working well for most migraines, as far as I can tell, the hormonal migraines rather cut into that. My doctor rufused to fill out my short term disability forms, since she said they had all the info, and apparently is not willing to contact my neuro on updates. Whatever. I phoned my neuro and he has added Amerge for a continuous treatment during the hormonal migraine stage. Between these two I should...

Well, officially broke

My company denied me short term leave, pending more information. I cannot give the forms to my doc until monday, cause she is closed. So pending more information essentially means I did not get paid. Fortunately, for the end of this months bills I am covered because of my yearly bonus, but for January I am screwed. If this does not go through then I will have to find another job, cause my boss will fire me. Lovely.

Finally, something

My neuro has put me on a preventative, which is certainly progress. Fortunately, he has chosen one I quite agree with. It is an anti-seizure med called Lyrica. I have actually been eager to try it and would have suggested it to my doctor, if my doctor would try listening to me instead of brushing me off cause she is fustrated. Anyway, Lyrica is the one newly recommended for FMS and so, I figure it might have an effect one...
