just saying hi. living the slow recovery process and attempting once again to get over this HM attack/episode. this seems like a great site. my speech and thought processes are just now reverting to normal or whatever semblance they can be as far as "normal" is concerned. in the past few weeks my episodes have been coming with ever-increasing intensity and frequency of attacks. instead of a few weeks i only have days between incidences and the aphasia and dysphasia are becoming evermore intense. the stroke-like side effects come on almost instantly as does the loss of vision/tunnel vision. i narrowly missed having what could have been a nasty car accident when i suddenly lost my peripheral vision while turning at an intersection. all my prayers and cries for help do no good. lack of health insurance and a week to week, check to check existence limits my avenues for help. i don't know what else to do. wishing everyone serenity and calm and a nice quiet, dark and cool closet to rest in.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

Hemiplegic Migraine (HM), a rare form of Migraine disease can be difficult to diagnose and treat. I'm sorry you are going through this. Let me give you some information on this condition and where to go from here.

Hemiplegic Migraine - The Basics  is our informational article about HM. The problem with this type of Migraine is, as you probably already know, its symptoms can seem like stroke, vascular conditions and epilepsy. A complete medical history and neurologic exam are needed to rule out other conditions.

When someone has HM it is imperative that they be treated by an expert, someone who deals with Migraine disease on a regular basis - a Migraine specialist. These doctors devote their entire practice treating patients with Migraines and headache disorders, are on the cutting edge of new treatments and go to sceintic conferences to learn new information about Migraines and headaches. Neurologists may be fine doctors, say the are "headache specialists" but that is really hard for them to do because they treat so many different conditions like MS, stroke and Parkinsons. You want the expert helping you with a rare condition like HM. We have a list of patient recommended Migraine specialists you can see by clicking HERE
