I don't know how much longer my son can suffer. He'll be 25 years old in December. He can't go to school, can't have a job, & can't eat more than 5 or 6 different foods. He gets so depressed he wants to kill himself. I believe him. I will never allow guns in my home.
No body takes migraines seriously!!!!! He sees a neurologist every two to three months. He is being treated for porphyria. The Doctor says he can't deal with the migraines yet. Even this brilliant man doesn't understand the severity of my Son's situation. He needs weekly outpatient care. He needs to be anesthetized when a migraine hits. Where can he find help like this??????????? He lives on disability. This is so degrading because he is very intelligent. On good days, he puts on a good show. But, inside my son is dying.

I am so sorry to hear of your son and that he is suffering. I am happy to see that you have found us and are learning about Migraine to better help him.
You didn't mention if your son is taking a Migraine preventive - a medication that is taken daily to help reduce Migraine frequency, but there are over 100 medications currently being used for Migraine treatment. We have the entire list of preventives used for Migraine HERE.
I also strongly suggest seeking out a Migraine specialist. Migraine specialists have done additional credit hours specifically for Migraine and headache disorders. They only treat Migraine and headache patients, not like a neurologist who treats all things neurological. We have a list of specialists on our site: Patient Recommended Migraine Specialists, and also an article explaining why we Migraineurs should seek one out: Migraine and Headache Specialists: What's So Special?
I can understand your son being depressed. Being in pain all the time is no fun! Please keep us posted on how you and your son are doing. There is hope! We are here and know what you are going through because we have been through it ourselves.
