I have a friend who is convinced that my hormone induced migraines would be helped by a chiropractor. Of course, she worked in a chiropractic's office, and proceeded to share a link to an article about a 47 year old woman who has gotten "better and stonger" from her visits.
I quote, "The article also noted that according to a study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 2000, one in five migraine sufferers given chiropractic adjustments reported a 90% reduction in migraines and half said they'd experienced a significant improvement in the severity of their migraines."
Please. Is there any truth to this? Note, the study was from the Journal of Manipulative.... Of course, they will promote their own agenda without medical foundation.
Question, please, how can I explain to her I've tried it, and that I believe it's mostly effective in people with tension headache, and that the massage or heat used could improve a migranuer's neck strain and make them believe it's the treatment curing them?
I'm a little fed up with her attitude. Pushy, with no scientific proof. I try to explain to her the mechanics of migraine, that it starts in the brain, not the spine, but she's adamant about her belief. Is there a link anywhere supporting scientifically that chiropractic works? All I find when I search is websites created by the chiropractic community supporting their claims. Thanks for the help.
