I have had two migraines always with aura that affect my speech and senses and lots of confusion (I do not even know what I am saying, not making sense and I have no idea where I am).  The last one happen on Tuesday the 20th of Nov. 2007.  I started with the typical pain on the right side and then the aura started.  I was at work when this occured so I did what I always do when a migraine strikes (which works most of the time)I drink a coke and take a advil migraine.  This time it did not work.  All I remember is leaving work then ending up 30 minutes away near a plant (I drove that far).  I had talked to my husband on the phone and later he said that I was not making since and he could not get me to tell him where I was. He said my words were all slurred and I was kept repeating the same word over and over again.  I finally pulled off the road and two strangers helped me.  I know this because I remember on of their shirts with his name on it.  And also my husband called again and the man talked to him.   The stranger called the ambulance to take me to the hospital.  My blood pressure bottom number was 104.  I do know that when I pulled over I started throwing up and couldn't stop.  I have no knowledge of the ambulance ride only that I was freezing to death then I was all warm and toasty.  My mom said that when she showed up (my husband called her)she had the nurse bring me blankets.  Then mom said that they gave me an IV for dehydration and pain/nausea.  Mom said also that I talked some to her but made no sence at all.

This whole episode starting around 1pm and lost all control around 4:15pm and don't remember much of anything until 8:30pm.

My symptoms were: slurred speech, cold almost like a fever, high blood pressure, aura, pain, vomiting, major sensitivity to light/sound, confusion, my vision was all missed up.

If anyone has had this happen please let me know, because that one really scared my family and I.  By the way the hospital didn't do anything expect the IV.  they never checked my blood pressure or anything my mom said.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

That sounds like an extremely scary experience. If that should happen again may I suggest you not get in your car and drive. Some Migraineurs have been stopped by police officers and charged with driving while under the influence of drugs. With extreme speech difficulties, confusion and trouble seeing you can see how an officer might not think Migraine, but drug or alcohol use. Of course we don't want you to injure yourself or others.

We are unable to diagnose you online because we are not medical professionals. What we can do is provide you with information and support. How does that sound?

Migraine with Aura - The Basics would be a great article to start you off with. This contains detailed information that may answer some of your questions. Another invaluable piece of information is this link: Anatomy of A Migraine. Here Teri Robert talks about the four phases of a Migraine attack and what we can possibly expect when we have one.

If your Migraine frequency continues to increase it may be time for preventive measures. But if you are only have 1 or 2 a year (lucky you Big Grin ) a triptan may be a good idea. Triptans are medications that abort, or stop, a Migraine and include Imitrex (oral and injection,) Maxalt, Zomig, Amerge, Frova, Relpax, and Axert.
